The structure behind is quite simple. Pick your carbs, protein and veggie-mix. Then, choose a dressing/seasoning. Too easy😎.

✅It’s a way of taking care of your health. When you eat well, you know that you’re getting all the important nutrients your body needs to function properly. A healthy nutritious diet promotes recovery and strengthen your immune system. Also, taking care of your body contributes to feelings of wellbeing and can improve self-esteem. 

✅It’s a way of managing body composition. The food you eat on regular basis has a big impact in your body composition. That means that knowing what, how, how much and when to eat (or why you’re eating) is a game-hanger when it comes to achieving your goals. Even if all you want is to maintain a healthy weight. 

✅It’s a way of having a good relationship with food. Many of the current trends and eating practices end up creating more harm than good. I’m talking about deprivation diets that leave you depleted, guilt trips over the so-called “forbidden foods,” or the obsession with certain nutrients (gluten, lactose, sugar, fat etc), all of which can lead to severe eating disorders.

✅It’s a way of living better. Imagine not worrying about food all the time (How many calories in this? Sorry, I can’t eat that.), not being afraid of social events (Oh no! It’s holiday season.), and feeling free to enjoy your favourite foods (Yes, I’d love a piece of cake. Thank you). Life is easier when we don’t spend so much time obsessing about everything we put in our mouths.

You know that feeling that you “should” be eating less? 
1500, 1000, 500 calories (who comes up with this sh*t?)

That’s insane. This is not enough to cover your basic metabolic needs (energy to stay alive!), let alone support everything you have going on in your life. You will feel awful, tired, moody, hangry…

And all the restriction. “Can’t eat this or that.” The sad thing is that deprivation has the opposite effect on most people. It becomes a strong drive to eat. And you end up craving the exact same thing you are trying to avoid.

It requires a lot of willpower and self-control. ❌NOT SUSTAINABLE!

And when you can’t hold anymore, you end up on a binge, feeling ashamed and like a total failure.

That’s NOT healthy.

But I’m not here to discourage you. On the contrary. I want to offer a solution. A much better way of changing habits. That is: 
✅BUILDING NUTRITION SKILLS

A skill is the ability to do something well. The keyword here is ability. Being able to.

This means that a skill is something you can work on in order to get good at. You literally have the power to improve. All you need is practice. And the more you practice a skill, the better you become and the easier it gets.

Best of all, once you get it, it’s part of your skillset, part of who you are. You can’t “unget” it.

The good news is that stress management is a skill that can be improve with practice😁.

✅Assess where you’re using your time – A time journal can be a huge eye-opener (What? I spent a whole hour writing an email?!). By logging your daily activities hour-by-hour, you can discover how you’re actually using your time. This way, it’s easier to optimize your schedule, eliminate unnecessary tasks and reserve time for what is really important to you.

✅Plan ahead – Planning is not just about deciding what needs to be done. It also includes anticipating potential challenges so you can be prepared if something goes wrong. Nothing is more stressful that not knowing what to do. Being prepared, on the other hand, gives you a sense of control. And feeling in control helps reducing stress. 

✅Protect your focus – When you need to get things done, distractions can be a source of stress (picture kids screaming while you’re trying to balance your monthly budget). By creating a “focus bubble” during key times of your day, you’ll become more efficient and less stressed. 

✅Zen your space – Have you ever entered a room that made you feel relaxed? Now, imagine recreating something like that in your own home. By having a space that helps you slow down and relax, you’re helping your body to shift gears so it can restore your baseline. 

✅Actively de-stress – Imagine that you’re holding a cup and water is being poured in constantly (but you don’t have the ability to make it stop). If you don’t empty the cup, it would eventually spill, right? Well, that’s pretty how stress works. We’re constantly bombarded with stress, and we can only take so much. De-stressing is looking for activities (walking in nature, meditating, yoga) that allows you to “empty the cup.”

💔We all experience it – The stress response is a built-in feature of a human being. It’s a physiological response to potential threats that prepares the body to fight or to flight. So, it’s basically part of life and you won’t be able to avoid it. However, you can (and should) learn to manage it in order to improve life quality. 

❤️‍🩹We can recover from it – Amazingly, the human body has also the capability of bouncing back (as long as it has enough time to recover). This means that after a fight or flight response, the body needs to shift to a rest and digest mode. When recovery is insufficient, stress becomes harmful with serious consequences on physical and mental health. 

💖We can thrive from it – Stress is not all bad. In fact, in the right proportion, stress can lead to learning, growth and change. To be able to use it in your favour, you’ll need to learn to ride the wave. Using the peak state of being focused, energetic and alert to push your limits, but also giving yourself enough time to recover and restore your balance.
