A proper diet is a fundamental component of health, but it plays an even more important role in weight-loss. I often see people trying to improve their body composition without making changes in their diet and the result is always frustrating. The truth is that the human body is very good at storing energy (as fat), but needs a lot of help to reverse the process. Therefore, if you don’t adjust your eating habits, you may not see any change in your waistline.
However, not all calories are the same. While it is truth that you must create an energy deficit to promote weight-loss, your body needs proper nourishment. This means considering the appropriate amount of every macro- (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) and micro-nutrients (minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals). If you just cut your energy intake without considering nutritional components, you may not only hinder your progress, but also develop an eating disorder.
Food Coaching is a personalized approach to healthy eating. During this program, we will discuss your current eating patterns (through dietary assessments), create strategies to improve your diet (without counting calories), and make adjustments as needed (through periodic check-up sessions).
