Hello everybody, my name is Carla Torres and I’ve been a certified Personal Fitness Trainer since 2010. I’m originally from Brazil, I lived in the US for over five years, and now I’m based in Sydney, Australia (Rhodes, NSW, to be more accurate).
When I first moved to the US, my lifestyle changed drastically. Colder weather, poor eating habits, and lack of physical activity contributed to an overall gain of 15 pounds in two months. I got worried about my health and started exercising regularly. I ended up falling in love with exercise, and decided to make my passion also my career. I took a Personal Fitness Training course at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), and after a few months studying on my own, I got my certification with the American Council on Exercise (ACE). I also got a Nutrition & Wellness Consultant certification (American Fitness Professionals & Associates, AFPA). Here in Australia, I acquired AIF‘s Master Trainer certification (Certifications III and IV in Fitness, Australian Institute of Fitness). Recently, I have completed the Precision Nutrition Level 1 (PN1), Certificate in Exercise Nutrition.
As a wellness coach, I do my best to address all components of a healthy lifestyle: regular physical activity, good nutrition, and behavior management. I do believe that physical activity should be fun and enjoyable in order to become a lifelong habit. Finally, I use an education-based method, so my clients understand why they are performing a particular exercise or adopting a specific behavior.
Keep in mind that I started just like you, with a deep desire to change my body. I know how scary and overwhelming a gym environment can be. However, confidence level increases as your abilities improve (I promise you – it gets easier with time). I went from a sedentary girl with unremarkable physique to INBA MS Millennium (Nevada State Bikini Diva champion). It was an empowering feeling and I decided that I wanted to share it with the world. That’s why I became a fitness trainer. Since then, I’ve worked closely with my clients to improve body image, encourage lifestyle changes, and get the results they wanted. Let me help you get yours.
